Sometimes in the midst of busy schedules I sit back and wonder what is it about this time of year that makes everything so magical. Maybe its the wonder in children’s eye’s as they line up to see Santa and his elves or maybe towns painted in sparkling Christmas lights and ribbons. Homes become safe warm havens from the harsh cold weather, drawing us closer together. Kitchens become filled with the smell of freshly baked cookies and sounds of jingle bells blaring from the stereo. The warm fire place, the cup of hot chocolate, the excitement of wrapping gifts and placing them under the tree. Family is what makes this time of year. But I question deeper, “Is it just that?” No. The warmth is in your mothers laugh, the sound of tearing wrapping paper, the twinkle in the eye at the sight of a gift. It’s your father carving the Christmas dinner, a child’s scream in excitement. The magic is in the moments.
